Teapot at Rooted Rooms 

What you’ll need

  • Tea
  • Teapot (glazed or unglazed)  
  • Kettle 
  • Digital scale 
  • Cha Hai (a pitcher) 
  • Teacups 
  • Teaboat

Step 1

Weigh 5 grams of tea

Step 2

Heat the water to the same temperature that you will use to brew the tea. Please refer to the suggested brewing temperature for individual tea. Pour the hot water to rinse your teapot, cha hai, and tea cups. This step will allow a more precise brewing temperature.

Step 3

Discard the hot water. Add the loose leaf tea into your teapot.

Step 4

Pour hot water into your teapot.

Step 5

Allow the tea to brew in the teapot. Please refer to the suggested infusion time for individual tea.

Step 6

Once the steeping time is up, pour the tea into a cha hai or pitcher. It is important to drain all the tea from the vessel into the cha hai to prevent the tea from becoming overly brewed.

Step 7

Pour your tea into the tea cup. You may re-steep the tea multiple times to discover different flavors each time.

Step 8

Enjoy your tea.
